Our Positively Mad Day at Manorbrook

As part of the school's involvement in the Learning through Innovation project, all the children walked down to Manorbrook for a jointly run project day on powerful Accelerated Learning techniques.
The training helped the children understand how they learn and some tricks to help them use their brains more effectively. These included: principles of Memory; how to remember information; an introduction to Mind Maps; learning styles; how to visualise; remembering facts; Mnemonic Strategies; Multiple Intelligences; using a journey to remember and creating stories to learn information

The training was run by Michael Tipper who used these techniques to come in second at the world memory championships 2002!
It was amazing just how quickly the children picked up these techniques, learning 100 new facts during the session, including the names of the counties in the European Union, the life of Marco Polo and how to count in Japanese!
