25 Mar 2008 - Footballing future looks bright for Crossways!

As the football season draws to a close, the talented members of Mr Booker's Year 4 club and Mr Curtis's Year 5 stars took the opportunity to showcase their talents on the pitch.

Two fixtures were arranged - the first ever competitive match for many of these young players - and the quality was high!

The first match saw the Year 5s, led by the impressive Kieron, storm to a 5-0 victory. Despite this scoreline, the Year 4 defence particularly impressed, with Adam, Annie and Emma faring well.

The second game saw a much closer affair and the pace, excitmement and quality on the pitch was incredible! The game was evenly fought throughout with plentiful chances at either end. Josh and Naomi were solid at the back for the Year 5s. Harry, Henry and Ollie powerful going forward for the Year 4s. With the match seemingly heading for a fair 1-1 draw, James made an excellent full length of the pitch chase to stop a certain goal from _____. Unfortunately, he slightly mistimed his tackle and the penalty was tucked away by ______ to earn the Year 5s a narrow 2-1 win.

The Year 4 side will be looking for revenge in next week's final matches of the season, where a Year 6 reserve side will also enter the fray...
